About Clemma
Clemma qualified as an OT in 2012 and is a compassionate and client focused Occupational Therapist with extensive experience supporting people in achieving and maximising functional independence. Her unique skill set is attributed to being a Senior Practitioner for a “Lifelong” Local Authority team which assesses and supports people that acquired their long term condition under the age of 25, their team provide intervention across the lifespan.
Skilled in delivering interventions tailored to the unique needs of the person, Clemma is largely used to working with children and young people to achieve their goals. She has experience in working with a wide range of conditions, including complex physical disabilities resulting from brain injury and cerebral palsy, as well as developmental delays, autism spectrum disorder, sensory processing disorders. She places an emphasis on the importance of holistic, family-centred approach to promote the persons participation in everyday activities.
Clemma has experience working on large scale housing adaptations providing oversight and direction on what would best meet the client’s long term needs whilst working with builders, architects and surveyors to keep the person at the centre of their project. She is able to identify equipment to solve complex problems and use her broad knowledge to source solutions that are best placed for the person and their environment.
Clemma has experience of moving and handling complex children and young people and providing risk assessment to meet their needs. She is used to working with family members and carers to support their moving and handling techniques to achieve the most comfort and optimal positioning for the person whilst protecting their own posture. Clemma has experience of hoisting complex children including those that are ventilated, have a tracheostomy fitted and that have complex postural presentations.
Working with schools and other agencies is common practice for Clemma as she works with professionals to support children with Neurodivergent presentations, behavioural and sensory needs and has supported with EHCPs. She has a passion for understanding Neurodivergence and the role of Sensory Integration in maximising a person’s function.
