Hand Therapy...

We use our hands in almost every single activity we carry out. Not only are our hands extremely useful and helpful but they also form part of our identity. The effects of changes to our hands following an injury, illness, due to an underlying health condition, not only impacts on what can we do and how we do it, but also impacts our psychological and emotional wellbeing.

Our highly skilled and experienced hand therapists support our clients to restore or regain movement, strength and/or function and help to manage or reduce scarring, pain, numbness or hypersensitivity in their hands and arms.

We provide specialist assessments within our clients’ homes to establish the range of movement, muscle strength, sensation and levels of pain in their hands and arms, as well as identifying any emotional or psychological concerns.

Following the assessment, we provide recommendations focusing on the client’s own goals and targeting the issues identified from the assessment. Recommendations may include therapy sessions to work on:

  • Improving range of movement, muscle strength and altered sensation.

  • Strategies and advice to help manage pain and emotional or psychological concerns

  • Learning new ways of carrying our specific activities

  • Ad

  • Creating and adapting upper limb and hand splints

  • Specific activities the client wants to be able to carry
