About Megan
Megan has been a qualified OT since 2014 after completing a post-graduate master’s degree, and has been working in paediatrics for over 6 years across a variety of settings. She has worked across education, social care, health and within the private sector to meet the holistic needs of children and families, including providing assessment and intervention in home, clinic, mainstream and specialist education settings. She also holds a BSc Psychology degree, which she draws upon in her occupational therapy practice.
She has a wealth of experience supporting children with a range of additional needs and diagnoses. Her focus is on the child within their key environments, working on both functional areas of difficulty, such as accessing learning in class, self-care skills and play, as well as targeting underlying motor, sensory, regulation and behavioural difficulties impacting on the child’s performance of daily activities and their well-being.
Through her clinical experience, Megan specialises in working with children with motor, sensory, attention, regulation and behavioural challenges impacting on their daily life. This includes supporting children with diagnoses of autism spectrum disorder (ASD), Developmental Co-ordination Disorder (DCD/Dyspraxia), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), Developmental Delay, and specific learning needs. She works with children prior to and/or going through the diagnostic process, and is able to support in situations where a specific functional or learning need has been identified. She also been developing my skills in supporting children with physical difficulties, such as cerebral palsy.
As a children’s OT Megan has bundles of energy, enthusiasm and is fun! She is a firm believer in a play-based approach, understanding what motivates each child. She uses this to support each child access and engage in learning and activities of daily living. She also works with the supporting adults around the child to empower them and facilitate the embedding of strategies into the child’s daily life, in order to help them reach their full potential.
Megan values each child’s differences and works within the family structure and situation, taking a very client-centred and compassionate approach to her work.
