As the Lead Occupational Therapist managing the Elderly Medicine Therapy Team in Derby, I am responsible for driving the highest quality of care within my team, in an area of healthcare I feel extremely passionate about.
I am skilled in the rapid assessment of clients in an acute physical setting, using my abilities of excellent communication and problem solving skills in high pressure environments. I am highly proficient in assessing patient’s functional abilities through a broad range of approaches, such as recommending packages of care, identifying rehabilitation recommendations, setting appropriate goals , equipment provision & adaptation and organising home visits.
Other areas of expertise include assessing for equipment, moving and handling plans, cognitive assessments, accident & emergency therapy/rapid assessment, falls, chronic fatigue syndrome, trauma & orthopaedics, fatigue & anxiety management and neurological conditions.
As a Moving & Handling Key Trainer, I provide regular training sessions to therapists within my area. and I am also an Apple Accredited Educator. I am a registered member of the Health Professions Council, and a full member of the British Association of Occupational Therapists including the Specialist Section for Older People.
