Occupational Therapy for young people...

Paediatric Occupational Therapists

Our specialist Children’s Occupational Therapists; also known as Paediatric Occupational Therapists; provide a broad range of invaluable services to babies, children and young people throughout the country.

We work with young clients who have challenges with their sensory, motor, perceptual and attention skills and with regulating and manging their emotions and behaviour; regardless of the cause of their difficulties.

These challenges can impact children and young people in a variety of different ways, from managing daily activities; such as feeding, dressing, toileting and sleeping; to being able to engage in more complex tasks, such those required to achieve their academic potential and participate in social and leisure activities.

There are many childhood conditions that affect children and young people. Some children may have a formal diagnosis to explain their challenges, such as Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC or ASD); Attention Deficit Hyper Activity Disorder (ADHD); Dyspraxia or Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD); Cerebral Palsy (CP); and Down’s Syndrome, to name just a few.

However, many children and young people who experience challenges that impact their daily lives do not have a formal diagnosis and their difficulties are not necessarily obvious to those who do not know them well.

Other children and young people experience severe illnesses or injuries that may result in life changing limb amputations or brain injury, acquired or traumatic (ABI or TBI) and physical, sensory or cognitive impairments.
