Stuart Hancock: Occupational Therapist

Private Occupational Therapist
Birmingham, Derby, Derbyshire, Leicester, Leicestershire, Midlands, Milton Keynes, Northamptonshire, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, West Midlands areas

I am an Independent Occupational Therapist experienced in working across the statutory and private sector.  On qualification as an Occupational Therapist in 2005 I established a history of field work experience specialising in adults and children with physical disabilities in a community setting.

As an Independent Therapist my clinical skills are based in functional assessments of multiple needs, after which I am able to provide and implement rehabilitation programs to maximise personal independence for adults with physical, sensory and neurological conditions. I am experienced in reviewing adult care packages, recommending equipment for daily living, certified as a manual handling advisor, proficient in the Disabled Facilities Grant Process and accomplished in designing plans for environment adaptations.  I have been commissioned by charities and housing associations to undertake disability housing reports and advice on designing plans for environment adaptations.

Employed for six years as a Senior Occupational Therapist for Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council, I was responsible for the assessment of needs for adults and children with complex physical, neurological and sensory disabilities.  My clinical reasoning skills were used to determine the most effective intervention, which could include mobility equipment provision and training, arrangement of home adaptations, daily living equipment or managing alternative housing, plus frequent compilation of specialist disability needs reports for dissemination in conference with the Assistant Director of Housing.

I am regularly contracted to conduct immediate needs for case management companies and have become skilled in assessing and report writing for people who have acquired major personal injuries as a result of road traffic collisions or work related accidents.

In March 2013 I completed the prestigious Matheson Functional Capacity Evaluation course and became certified in the system for assessing vocational rehabilitation needs.
