Liz Tremlett Occupational Therapist West Sussex

I have worked in OT settings since 2001 and have a wide range of experience in the NHS, Social Services, Housing and the private sector as a rehabilitation case manager and OT Consultant. I am also a qualified Manual Handling Trainer and have taught in a variety of settings around the country. During my career within the NHS, I spent 4 and a half years establishing the rehabilitation service in a local community hospital, whereby I developed my passion for working with older people and during this time, studied for my post graduate certificate in Gerontology.

I now specialise in working with adults, older people and people living with dementia. I am passionate about person centred care and always work with the person’s wishes at the centre of my intervention.  This approach to my work enables me to assist my clients to remain as independent as possible, whilst at times sourcing appropriate assistance and support for the person so they can achieve this, and this can involve complex assessment of needs to establish an appropriate, safe and enduring care plan.  Often, this includes liaison with family members and solicitors who hold power of attorney for the person, to ensure that the proposed plans are financially viable and in line with the wishes of the person if unable to currently express their views.

I also advise carers (informal and formal) with regard to issues such as appropriate use of equipment and manual handling, to ensure safe working practice both for the person and the carer. My work takes me to a variety of settings including people’s own homes and care homes, and I am regularly involved in reviewing people’s care to ensure those that live in care homes are having their needs fully met. I maintain an interest in the progression of OT and regularly supervise students on their practice placements, for Brighton University.

I cover the areas of West and East Sussex, Hampshire and parts of Kent.
