Vocational Rehabilitation...

Our vocational rehabilitation occupational therapists support our clients who are having difficulties within their current place of work or have been unable to return to work as a result of an illness, injury or underlying condition or disability.

We carry out vocational assessments and therapy interventions within the client’s work place or home environment, depending on each client’s individual circumstances and needs.

The assessment explores each client’s strengths and challenges as well as the activities required for their role and the environmental considerations of the work place.

Following assessment, a bespoke intervention plan is created. This can include simple adaptations to the work environment and work station or intensive therapy sessions at home in order to prepare the client to be able to return to work in the longer term.

Our bespoke vocational rehabilitation programmes are aimed at supporting our clients regain or develop the skills and abilities needed to return to or enter their chosen field of employment. This may include therapy interventions focusing on :

  • Fatigue and pain management

  • Increasing muscle strength and control

  • Organisational and executive functioning skills

  • Hand function

  • Social and communication skills

  • Use of transport to enable access to the work place

  • Learning to use supportive strategies and equipment

Work Place Assessments

Our therapists assess employees within their place of work in order to identify the specific tasks required for their role and where their challenges are arising from.

Following assessment, recommendations are made to adapt the work tasks or the environment to enable the employee to carry out their work safely and comfortably. Recommendations may also made to enable the employee to access the facilities of the work place throughout their working day.
