Joanne Blackwell is an Occupational Therapist registered with the Health Professions Council. Joanne Trained at St Andrews School of Occupational Therapy at Northampton University and graduated in 2003.

Joanne’s post qualification experience has involved working in general medicine, trauma and orthopaedics, Neurological and spinal surgery, Stroke rehabilitation, General and Vascular surgery, Hand Therapy and Adult community. During this period Joanne gained extensive experience in working with patients with a wide variety of medical and multiple pathological conditions and the organisation of often complex hospital discharges.

Joanne from her experience as an Occupational Therapist has gained skills in Specialist Seating Assessments including Wheelchair Assessments and Neurological Splinting of the upper and lower limb. Joanne has skills in assessing for cognitive and perceptual difficulties and has provided assessments to social services as to care packages required to meet client’s needs. Joanne has assessed and provided clients with equipment appropriate for their needs and provided assessments to social services for major housing adaptations as required. Joanne has worked as a student placement supervisor and has taken students from the Derby School of Occupational Therapy on clinical placement.

Joanne has gained skills working as a Clinical Case Manager, specialising in Acquired Brain Injury and Orthopaedic Trauma following Injury or accident. Instructed via Solicitors and Insurers to work with client’s rehabilitation needs and identify and commission appropriate medical and social support. Joanne worked with clients and their families on a personal and clinical level, and has a thorough awareness of the stages of the litigation processes which may apply to individual cases.

Joanne is a private Occupational Therapist covering Derby, Nottingham, Leicester, Birmingham and the Midlands areas.
