New DFG And Lifetime homes guidance

The government have finally published their DFG review & Lifetime homes review. An ageing society is one of the great challenges for housing.In Lifetime Homes, Lifetime Neighbourhoods, the governments housing strategy for an ageing society is announced along with their ambitions to build homes to Lifetime Homes standards and a vision of Lifetime Neighbourhoods that are fit for all.They have provided improved advice and information and expanding the help for simple repairs and adaptations, with more investment in major home adaptations to support independence.Lifetime Homes, Lifetime NeighbourhoodsThe DFG review sets out a few major changes to the current guidance including changes to the financial assessment process and improvements such as DFG’s now having a mandatory limit of £30,000 (an increase of £5000) and access to the garden now being a mandatory need which can be included under a DFG.Disabled Facilities Grant: The Package of Changes to Modernise the Programme Let us know your thoughts on these improvents which will be implemented from April 2008……..For further guidance around DFG’s and disability housing issues or for an Occupational Therapy housing needs assessment report contact us at Inclusion and ask to speak to Matthew Box.
